A La Mesa
A selection of Comida Casera participatory projects, installations, and workshops.
Comida Casera is a multigenerational project that uses meal-sharing and storytelling to cultivate communities that transcend divides. Participants share stories and food inspired by a woman in their lives who gives them a sense of home. Since 2016, the project has expanded from backyards to libraries, community centers, museums, universities, and to online exchanges open to all.
A La Mesa is a call to gather in community around the table and is activated by public programs on cultivating food, home, and community. Participants are invited to add to a public archive of recipes, stories, and drawn memories honoring the people, places, and dishes that form their connection to home.
